Political Compass

What Would Gandhi Do?

When I took the test at Political Compass in November 2007, I landed in the same region of the chart as Gandhi.

And here’s where Gandhi landed, according to Political Compass’s analysts.

Nelson Mandela and the Dali Lama flank me on the chart.

The 2008 chart (analysis behind the link is worth skimming) shows Kucinich in that region of the chart and I really wanted to vote for him (before seeing the chart–I know Kucinich’s positions very well), but he dropped out just before the Dem primary. As you can see from this chart, ‘mainstream’ Democrats and all Republicans are clustered together and way off MY reservation.

They left Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney off these charts (this was about the Primaries for the two major parties). As of October 1, 2008, those two are still running and either would make a fine President.

Political Compass is a site worth exploring, if only to see a different framing of the landscape and compare your own views to those of others.
